Anti-police riots in Tottenham London

The trouble began after a protest over the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old father-of-four turned violent. The man was shot in a minicab after it was stopped by police from Operation Trident, which investigates gun crime in London's African and Caribbean communities.

A spokesman for the Mayor of London Boris Johnson said "violence and destruction of property" would do nothing to aid the investigation into the fatal shooting of the man by police on Thursday.

Riot police and mounted police were called in after the protest deteriorated into violence on Saturday.

Whilst this blog has as yet and like most not ascertained all the relevant facts to the cause of the riot, we are under no uncertainty that this is a response to Cameron's 'Big Society'.

It would indeed be good to find out the cause of this disturbance. Sky News last night said there was a rumour that it was in fact the taxi driver that was the police's target. Others say that Mark Duggan was executed by the police.

The problem is that we have an establishment investigating itself and we all know from recent events how open and above they are, don't we.

well after the shooting in the tube I'm sure the police will want to get it story right before the release. problem is of course how long does it take to tell us the facts.
